Getting Settled Again

On October 25th we closed on our house, and it's been a whirlwind ever since.  We spent four weeks fixing up the house, moved in, and then three weeks getting settled.  During that time we haven't had much 'official' school, but we've had lots of opportunities to work as a family, and the kids have done an amazing amount of reading.

One day right before our move I had a lovely half hour with Alex.  The other kids were elsewhere, and he curled up with me with his dot to dot book.  He doesn't know numbers, but Annie had taught him how to connect the dots in general, so he was doing a pretty good job of it.  I really enjoyed snuggling with him while he showed me how he could connect the dots.

Annie has been reading out loud to Alex literally hours every day.  It has been incredibly helpful, and I always love her reading choices.

I love the peace that comes from reading.  Aaah...

We've had our books packed up ever since June, so everyone was really excited to unpack them when we moved into our house.  We spent an entire day just putting away the books.

I love the new shelf we have in our dining room, and I love that I walk past it constantly.  I get to see so many great books and it inspires me to read.  It would be awesome to have a couple more such shelves.

Alex was pretty excited about Jim's engineering textbooks.  He was studying these ones because, "Momma, we need to make a roller coaster!"

Not only do we have our own books unpacked again, but we made a new trip to the library this week.  Logan has been pretty much oblivious to the world outside of his books.  He doesn't even know I took this picture.

Now that we're settled again, I'm looking forward to normal routines, and implementing some ideas I've been inspired with to help us in certain areas.
